welcome february

February is a month I always welcome, I think you can see the beginnings of spring.

I have been filling my home with bulbs, as you know I do like to hurry spring along.

However the garden is beginning to wake up and it is lovely to see some flowers in bloom again.

As always the little snowdrops are the first to make an appearance.

And I can never resist the primula when they start to appear in the shops.

I have just finished a little group of animals……this is Hattie the hare waiting on the crocuses to bloom (which they have since this photo was taken).

The flower of the month for February is the violet and so I’ve named this little lady Violette.

With a cardie to match the daffodils this is February the fox!

And the final little one this time is Hexie and I’m sure you can guess how she got her name!

All four girls will be listed in my Etsy shop on Wednesday 8th February at 9pm (GMT).

More information about them can be found here and more images here.

Please note they are collectible items only and are not suitable for children under 14 years.

Thanks as always for taking the time to pop by, I do appreciate it.

Enjoy February….the gateway to spring! 🙂

hello 2017

Happy New Year everyone!!

I actually can’t believe how quickly 2016 flew by!

The above image is a collection of all my monthly collages on Instagram, as I said over on IG it was a year of ‘B’s”….blooms, bunnies, bears and a baby.

There were quite a few animals during 2016……61 in total all living in various places across the globe. A big thank you to everyone who gave one a home.

Of course without a doubt the highlight of 2016 was the birth of our granddaughter Amelie, words can’t express the joy she has brought to our lives.

And so on to 2017….I do love a bright shiny new year, I hope its a good one for us all.

I just love the words on the front of my new diary!

So with my best wishes for 2017, I’ll leave you with this hopeful image of little tete-a-tete daffodils on my dresser……….it’s pre-spring now you know!!!! 🙂

rome

In my last post I mentioned that we were heading off on a little trip to Rome, well we’ve been there and back again, sadly as with all these things they go far, far too quickly but it was a fantastic trip and we really enjoyed it.

I thought I’d share some photos with you here on the blog today and I hope my IG friends don’t mind as they will have seen a lot of them before.

One of the first attractions on my list and I expect on any visitor to Rome’s list was the Colosseum……what a fantastic building and amazing considering how old it is.

It is even more amazing on the inside…..so much history!

And the views from the inside looking out were stunning.

Another must see is the fabulous Trevi Fountain, we of course threw our coins in the fountain, as tradition dictates it will ensure your return to Rome.

During our visit to the fountain there were two marriage proposals, it was wonderful, the two couples got such a round of applause.

These are the famous Spanish Steps, we arrived here just as the sun was setting which explains the lovely glow.

Our visit to St Peter’s Square, the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica took a whole day.

Oh my….. the art, sculptures and history were amazing.

Seeing the works of Raphael and Michaelangelo was such a privilege and the Sistine Chapel has to be seen to be believed (sadly no photos allowed).

I even managed to find a little rabbit sculpture in the Vatican!

roman-ceilings-collage

And ceilings, oh my goodness….Rome is very good at ceilings!!!

The top two images are the work of Raphael inside the Vatican, bottom left is inside the dome of St Peter’s Basilica and bottom right is the ceiling of Santa Maria Maggiore.

pantheon-collage

The Pantheon, a former Roman Temple and now a church has been in constant use for almost 2000 years, such a fantastic building and the final resting place of the painter Raphael.

roman-forum-collage

When walking the streets of Rome, you are never far from an antiquity but without a doubt the best are to be found in the Roman Forum, this ancient site is fascinating.

autumnal-rome-collage

As you can see from the photos the weather was brilliant.

Along the banks of the River Tiber it looked like autumn but felt like summer.

Such a lovely city….I do hope that throwing coins in the Trevi Fountain does work, as I would love to return one day!

However I’m back home again and I’ve been busy finishing off the last little batch of animals of 2016.

They will be listed in my Etsy shop on Wednesday 7th December at 9pm (GMT).

More info about them can be found here and larger images can be seen here.

Thank you so much for visiting today, I hope you are having a calm count down to Christmas! 🙂
