knitting & crochet

so that was january!

January!!

I usually like January, a bright new shiny year stretching ahead, not this year though as I managed to catch the flu! I’m seldom ill and I don’t take kindly to being so either but this knocked me off my feet and my energy levels were low. I’m ok now and my energy is coming back but good riddance January!

On the plus side I’m happy to say spring is happening with little buds and bulbs appearing outside and little pots of daffs inside AND Creme Eggs are back in the shops! We have had snow though and as I type this it is snowing again but it’s wet snow and is disappearing as soon as it hits the ground, thankfully!!

I have managed a little crafting during the month to keep me sane.
I have started my Carbeth Sweater by Kate Davies Designs which I hope to have finished in time for Edinburgh Yarn Festival. The yarn is Kate’s Buachaille in Squall.
I also finished my ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas Socks‘ by Dani of Little Bobbins, the yarn I used was Frosty Pines by The Little Tailoress.
There have of course been some little creatures too, all off to their new homes now. I have decided that this year I’m focusing on bunnies, they’re my favourite and they always sell first too so I think that others like bunnies best too. I’m not saying that there won’t be the odd fox, bear, hare, mouse or fawn appear at some point but mostly bunnies this year.

So that was January!

Wishing you all a happy and healthy February! 🙂

end of year

Hi everyone it has been a while since I’ve been here!

It seems so much has changed in the past couple of months, November still had quite a bit of colour in the garden…….

…….and then December brought the snow, it was lovely however to see the little bulbs pushing through!

In recent days though it has become quite mild again.

There has been some knitting for the little person in my life over the last few weeks…….

…….a little person who is just beginning to realise the magic of Christmas!

There has been lots of festive animal making too.

They have all now been posted off to their new homes and I am so grateful for all the support given to GRD this year.

I made 55 little girls during 2017 and I finished off with a little bunny called Yule who was my 350th animal!

Today is the Winter Solstice and one of my favourite days of the year because today the light begins to return and that is such a lovely thought.

And according to the GRD calendar it’s only 10 days to Pre-Spring…..wonderful!!!

In the meantime though there has been lots of Christmas preparation going on and it will be lovely to celebrate the day with my family around me.

I would like to wish you all a wonderful Christmas with those you love!

Happy Christmas! 🎄

october

Still lovely to see some colour in the garden at this late stage of the year.

In fact October was quite colourful….until Hurricane Ophelia arrived and wiped out most of it!

Just a few leaves hanging on now as another month passes.

Weather wise the month was on the whole, with the exception of Ophelia, pretty good and we had a lovely day out at the coast where the changing light was amazing.

On the making front, I managed two hats and gilet for my granddaughter and I also made a little Halloween project bag and a matching pumpkin from the lovely Helen’s book, Modern Vintage Gifts.

And of course there were some little creatures too.

Thank you so much to all you lovely people who stop by here and take the time to leave me a comment, I really do appreciate it!

As it’s Halloween, I’ll leave you with a pic of a certain little person choosing her pumpkin! 🙂

Happy Halloween 🎃
