Home corsages 200

by greenrabbitdesigns

Well guess what it did here last night??? Thankfully not too much of it still remains but it is bitterly cold.

I have a few things to share with you today, usually my posts tend to focus on one thing but not today so bear with me while I get through everything and we’ll find out what the post title means at the end.

As I’m sure you recall I was attending a craft fair last Thursday evening. Well I do have issues with craft fairs, the last one I attended was 6 years ago. I thought however I would give it a go again, my issues really haven’t gone away though. Now I’m determined this is not going to be a moany post, let’s just say it will probably be another 6 years before I do another one, if ever.
Don’t get me wrong I did do very well selling quite a few of my corsages but no bags unfortunately. I have also got an order as a result of the fair, it’s just there are so many things about craft fairs I don’t like, which I think I had forgotten about.

Now second subject of this post is to thank all you lovely, lovely people who voted for my Poinsettia Bag in the ‘Stitched in Color’ competition, I really appreciate the fact that so many of you took the time to go over to the site and vote for me. My bag didn’t win but it is now living with a lovely lady who is very happy with it and that is prize-winning enough for me!

Now while we are on the subject of winning, I was the lucky recipient of a gorgeous giveaway win over at Mouse blog. The lovely Sue sent me this beautiful brown linen embroidered heart, which because of it’s colour looks like it was specially made for me and will go in so many places in my home! Thank you Sue. 🙂

I also have been very kindly awarded the Liebster Blog Award by Sally of Poppycock & Other Creative Nonsense blog. I want to thank Sally very much for giving it to me. Now one of the rules of this award is to pass it on to 5 other blogs but I’m afraid this is the bit I’m not very good at because I just couldn’t pick 5 blogs, all the blogs on my blog list deserve it so I just can’t single out 5. I hope you don’t mind me breaking the rules Sally! When describing my blog Sally wrote ‘Viviennes blog takes you through the seasons of the year with plants, crafts, food and cats’, I love that! Thanks again Sally.

Now the reason for the 200 at the beginning of my post. Well this post is my 200th blog post!

Who would have thought I would get to 200 posts, not me anyway!!! As I’ve mentioned many times on this blog I was very slow to start but I did eventually get over it and look at me today, I don’t know when to stop! 😉

I want to thank all you lovely people who visit me here. Thanks to those of you who visit regularly. Thanks also to all those who visit but never say anything, I read my stats and I know you’re there! Finally, thanks especially to all the everytimers who leave a comment on every post, you know who you are, I really appreciate your friendship.

Now to show my thanks and in celebration of 200 posts I’m having a little giveaway. It comprises of a set of three of my mini corsages, a little cream flower with a poinsettia button, a sprig of mistletoe with faux pearl berries and a red mohair rose with a black and gold bead centre. I’m also throwing in some Green & Black’s Organic Butterscotch Chocolate and a handbag diary for next year (can you believe how close we are to next year!!).

For a chance to win, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post before midnight (GMT) on Thursday 8th December and I’ll be back on Friday with the winner, simple as that.

*** The giveaway is now closed, thank you. ***

Well my 200th post has turned into quite a mammoth one, I do hope you made it to the end. 😉

Have a wonderful week everyone. 🙂

Wow 1st of all what a brilliant giveaway Vivienne. Thanks so much for all of that yumminess on offer and yes please put me in the hat. Many, many congrats on your 200th post, as you know I love to visit you blog and really do count you as a great blogging buddy ;0) What is wrong with N Ireland…I would have been at that craft fair if I lived nearer. I am so sorry you did not sell more, I do hope you covered your costs of attending. I have never been sure about Craft Fairs so I have never done one, it can really be hit and miss I hear. Lastly you had SNOW…I am really jealous! It has turned colder here finally but none of the white stuff here. Take care and keep really snug. Not many days left now…..I do hope you got your tree up (nag, nag!!)

Hi Vivienne, I am one of those who rarely comments, but like you say, you know we are here reading your posts, even if we don’t comment often! People say to me I should do craft fairs but i’m not brave enough… i’m not a sales person at all! I would love to be entered into your giveaway, well done on your 200th post. My other half tells me I should do a blog, but working full time do I really have anything interesting to blog about??

Your stall looks lovely Vivienne and how sweet your little tree looks with the pretty corsages.
Congrats on your blog award which is well deserved. I always enjoy your posts.
I’d love to enter your giveaway please. I’ve never had butterscotch chocolate before. I’m drooling here!

Mia December 5, 2011 - 5:30 pm

Dear Vivienne,

Many, many congratulations to 200th post, that is quite an achievement! I always enjoy your post so much, and they always leave a smile on my face! I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy the fair, though, and I might know a few issues you didn’t like, thy probably are same that keep me away from the fairs too. But you sold some, and had an order so I’m smiling here after all!

Thank you so much for this beautiful giveaway and here’s to next 200 posts!

A warm hug from your friend in Finland!

Alison December 5, 2011 - 5:42 pm

Congratulations! I have only recently come across your blog and I just love the pictures and the things that you make – oh to be so creative – I can follow patterns but have yet to progress to designing….I wish you well for the next 200 posts as I love visiting and reading.

lily December 5, 2011 - 6:21 pm

I must say I didn’t really enjoy my first craft fair either, although my daughter and I did manage to sell a fair bit…………….it just felt a little uncomfortable somehow…….your stall looked beautiful, well done on the commision order and congratulations on reaching your 200th post, I have a lot of catching up to do………….gorgeous corsages in your giveaway, but you know it was the chocolate that drew me in, don’t you, lol.

Keep warm in your very seasonal weather, lily. x

Pomona x December 5, 2011 - 6:22 pm

I know what you mean about craft fairs – I did one about 18 years ago for charity, and thought never again! But at least you tried, and satisfied yourself that you had been right all along.

Congrats on 200 posts – you’re way ahead of me! And what a lovely giveaway too.

Congratulations on your 200th post, and on your craft fair sales, even if you didn’t enjoy that bit. And an award. And a giveaway. This was a packed post!

Your stall looks lovely, and I especially like the little sprig of crocheted mistletoe. And snow, I know not everyone likes it but I adore the stuff!

sue December 5, 2011 - 7:36 pm

Congratulations on your 200th post. I like to read your blog but don’t comment very often, but I do enjoy it. Your work is lovely, you are very talented.

Victoria December 5, 2011 - 7:52 pm

Snow?! We had hail still lying this morning and the children were almost besides themselves with excitement. I think proper snow would send them completely over the edge!
Congrats on your 200th post and I’m intrigued to know some of the things you don’t like about craft fairs… do tell… I thought the 200 was going to refer to how much money you raised at the fair!

Stephanie December 5, 2011 - 7:55 pm

Well done for EVERYTHING! Your 200th post, your beautiful creations (I’m still marvelling at the stitching inside your Poinsettia Bag), your award, and, I think many would agree, YOUR loyalty and kindness towards your fellow bloggers.

I would love to enter your giveaway but with the generosity Lady Fortune has bestowed on me recently in terms of giveaways I think it would be greedy of me. I gracefully bow before my fellow bloggers and give them the chance of winning 😉

harmony and rosie December 5, 2011 - 7:56 pm

You really have been a busy bee. I don’t mind snow so much now that we’ve had our roof repaired, although I have to say it was last year’s snow that caused it .. bah humbug!!
Sorry the fair wasn’t all it was cracked up to be but rest assured your name is getting out there and that is what it’s all about. Just because your bags didn’t sell on the day doesn’t mean that someone’s still thinking about them. Or perhaps there wasn’t anyone with any bag taste there??!!
Congratulations on your 200, I’m about to hit it sometime very very soon. Almost impossible to believe isn’t it?
Lovely giveaway Vivienne, please count me in!

Sorry, I meant that someone out there probably is still thinking about them. That’s what a glass of vino does I guess .. hic!

Pam Hetherington December 5, 2011 - 8:23 pm

Well done you on trying a market again – not sure I’ll ever be ready! And a lovely giveaway – a perfect start to Christmas for some lucky person.
Hope the snow has gone and all is cosy in the Green Rabbit household.

Simone December 5, 2011 - 10:26 pm

Congratulations on 200 posts!!! I would love to be entered into your very generous giveaway Vivienne. Your craft stall looked lovely with all the goodies displayed. The bags you make are works of art and maybe the ‘bag buying’ people at the event just look upon bags in general in a practical sense and not as things of beauty to be enjoyed as well as used. x

Patty December 5, 2011 - 10:45 pm

Happy 200 Vivienne and your first snow of winter on the same day….. what a milestone!
It’s good to see your craft stall, it looks very nicely laid out and I recognise some of the lovely things on display. What a pity it wasn’t quite as good as hoped but we know how these craft fairs can be a bit hit and miss sometimes. Your little tree looks fab by the way.
No worries about picking out 5 blogs for the Liebster, I struggled with that as I feel everyone who makes the effort is deserving. I awarded a couple of blogs overseas who I don’t comment on but I read regularly and I guess they may think it was spam I sent them.
The giveaway looks tempting so please put my name in the hat. I’m hoping to sort mine out this week if anyone wants to pop over and join in.
Keep warm, Sally x

jooles December 6, 2011 - 7:40 am

Ooooh that snow photo makes me shiver! Congratulations on your award…well deserved i’d say x
Oh please please please enter in me in your 200 post celebration, what beautiful goodies, you are so talented.
love jooles x

I love your work, and congratulations on the 200th Blog. What an achievement.

Jenny December 6, 2011 - 9:28 am

Congratulations on your 200th post – that’s come around quick – I think I remember you doing a 100th post one not that long ago (though maybe it was someone else, who knows!!) Glad you sold lots of corsages at your fair, even if bag sales were a bit thin on the ground. I don’t actually do craft fairs myself, prefering just to sell online – probably for many of the same reasons as you! Well done for giving it another go though 🙂 Please pop me into the hat for your gorgeous giveaway too, would love to be entered! Hope the rest of your week is lovely and warm and cosy – brrr… can’t believe you had snow! Jenny xx

Chris December 6, 2011 - 9:39 am

Congratulations on your 200th post – doesn’t time fly! Please enter me into your giveaway, anybody would be very proud to wear those corsages.

Robin December 6, 2011 - 11:18 am

Oh Geez, Vivienne, I almost missed your 200th post. So happy I didn’t. Congratulations to you! That’s a lot of words and pictures. Love your give away, I would love to be added your pick. Busy working lately hope to post myself soon. Happy day to you and your Christmas fixings.

Helen Philipps December 6, 2011 - 11:20 am

Congratulations on your 200 posts, Vivienne! And on your sales at the craft fair…even though you didn’t enjoy it much, at least you know that now so won’t feel as if you’re missing anything if you don’t do one again 😉 Your little tree and stall looked very pretty. Your giveaway is so generous and everything in it is lovely!! Thank you for the chance to win! You got the snow, too….I was sure we would have some here as it was really cold but we just got lots of hail and sleet and winter chills!
Have a lovely week.

Congrats on 200 posts! I’m one of those who visits often but rarely comments! (until now!)

Liz in Missouri, USA December 6, 2011 - 4:56 pm

200 Posts! Wow!!! GOOD ON YOU!!! I love your blog. I look in on it everyday, even though I don’t always leave a comment. I think your bags are wonderful and I’m surprised they didn’t sell, but I think people attend craft fairs looking for fabulous handmade things – all for under a dollar. (So much for my rant on craft fairs.) I hope you take a little walk in your park again soon. I love the posts when you share how pretty it is there. Thank you for sharing these bits of yourself on your blog. It’s nice to “know” you.

Susan December 6, 2011 - 7:58 pm

Hello Vivienne…Your stall looked so pretty but there does seem to be lots of crafters who are left feeling a little let down by the whole thing, doesn’t there?….
Congratulations on your blog award…so well deserved and please could you enter me into your lovely Giveaway…I love your corsages and all the ladies in our house would share…and share the chocolate too… and then we would draw straws for the diary..lol!

Dear Vivienne,

Three cheers and many congratulations on your 200th post!!!
I enjoy reading it and I don’t always write a comment but please know I am a faithful reader.
I can sympathize with you about the fair after doing my first major one in early October. Your display is great and I really like the banner.
Please add my name to your giveaway. Maybe I’ll have some end-of-the-year luck.
Here’s to many more posts in the future!!

gill December 8, 2011 - 12:03 pm

200 posts! well done!

Kristyne December 8, 2011 - 4:12 pm

LOL! I’d love to know what your definition of “bitterly cold” is … how does -25C without the wind chill grab you? 😉

And I’m so with you on the craft fair thing. I’ve always found that most of the shoppers just don’t understand or appreciate just how much time, work & $ that go into every handmade original. They want bargains. 🙁

But your sweet little mini trio is adorable! I’d love to share it with my girls. Congratulations on the big 2-0-0!! Quite a milestone, Vivienne.

Cheers, k
