Home garden & greenhouse 2011

2011

Happy New Year to you all, may it be all you hope for and more!

The above photo is of my sycamore tree at the top corner of my garden. This year I plan to photograph it on the 1st day of each month (memory permitting) to keep a record of it for a year and watch how it changes throughout the seasons. I have seen this done on other blogs and I think it’s a great idea. I found this tree as a seedling growing in one of my flower beds many years ago, I then moved it to the spot it’s in now, so I have watched this tree grow for it’s entire life.

There are buds on the ends of the branches already which is a wonderful, hopeful sign. When I was out in the garden this morning it was very mild, the sun was shining and the sky was blue, in fact, dare I say it, it was very Springlike but I don’t want to speak too soon!!

You all know how I clung on to summer and refused to go into autumn then when I accepted autumn I refused to go into the festive season too early but this time I’ll be looking for Spring everyday, wishing it on and enjoying every minute of it!

It’s great to start anew with a clean slate, have an absolutely brilliant 2011!! 🙂

What a great idea – will look forward to seeing your tree each month. Great that the buds are already looking quite big and a sure sign that Spring will eventually arrive. Glad you are enjoying some sunshine – I believe it is meant to arrive here tomorrow!

Happy New Year to you and yours.

Happy New Year Vivienne, here’s wishing you and your family great things for 2011. I saw some lovely large buds on a magnolia tree the other and was filled with hope for an early Spring so I shall be watching your sycamore for yet more tell-tale signs.

What a wonderful idea – sounds like a spring-calendar to me, Viv! I love it!

I love summer too, and winter is so long and dark here, and Christmas is almost only thing I like about it. So here’s to spring coming SOON!

Happy New Year still once dear friend!

Yours,
Mia

Happy New Year and a great idea to take a monthly image of the tree!
Like you, I look forward to Spring and yesterday saw me looking around the garden for signs of life. I was not disappointed – buds, fresh greenery. But no sun or warmth yet. Will have to wait a little longer for that.

I wait every year for the first leaves on my birch tree.

I walked around the garden to see whats happening, not much. I feel there will be more winter days to come 🙁

Happy New Year!

Love your idea of taking a picture of your tree once a month. What a great little tribute to the tree. It will be fun to see it grow and how it changes. I am hoping for an early spring – but I think we just began winter here.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you, too. I am looking forward to see the changes of your tree throughout the year and had planned something alike with my whole back yard, just a monthly shot out the back door.
