The sunflowers have bloomed, eventually and quite beautiful they are too!
The winter bedding has been well established.
The birds’ winter treats are ready and waiting.
The strawberry leaves have changed colour after giving up their fruit.
The sycamore leaves are starting to fall (my husband will be pleased!!)
The nasturtiums are hanging on until the first frosts.
The tulips are waiting to be planted so we have something pretty to look at in the spring (now there’s a nice thought, spring!)
I have resisted for so long but even I have to admit autumn is here. It’s not that I don’t like autumn, it’s just I like summer better!! It can be very beautiful with all it’s glorious colours. Let’s hope that it is bright and clear and dry so we all can enjoy it!
Have a lovely autumnal weekend !!! π

Oh I love sunflowers! This is my favorite time of year here in New England – all the leaves change and you can smell winter coming. Thanks for reminding me that of planting bulbs now for next year.
Hi Amanda!
I’ve seen some beautiful photos of New England in the autumn, you’re very lucky to be there to enjoy it!
Have a great weekend. π

Pretty flowers you’ve there! I love sunflowers…they remind me on lovely vacations we had in France.
A wonderful weekend to you too!
Hi Corry
Sunflowers are my very favourite flowers, I adore them!
In France they have fields and fields of them, beautiful!
Enjoy your weekend. π

Lovely post – that sunflower is fabulous and your winter planting looking good. Like you I tried to resist autumn not because I don’t like it but because it heralds winter! Now that ii is definitely her though I am appreciating its charms like you.
Jane
Hi Jane
You just have to make the most it, don’t you, it’s the shorter days that I dislike the most. However on a beautiful morning like today it can be very pretty!
I sooo love sunflowers, it never ceases to amaze me how a flower so big can grow from such a little seed!
Have a lovely weekend! π

I was looking at the leaves turning gold this morning and the dew on the leaves and I too had to admit Autumn is here! Here’s too lots of crisp sunny days. Catherine x

I adore your garden so, Viv, you have something pretty to look other that plain greyness (here!). Especially the sunflowers are fantastic! Thank you for brightening my gray evening!
Happy and sunny weekend!
Yours,
Mia
Aw thank you Mia!!
So far we’ve been having exactly the kind of autumn I like, dry and bright!
Hope some of it comes your way this weekend. π

Lovely garden photos there Vivenne.
Your winter bedding has settled in really well.If you get the storm that is brewing here you will lose a lot of those sycamore leaves tonight!
I also need to start thinking about planting my bulbs up soon.
Have a warm and cosy weekend, time to start closing the curtains earlier; Autumn really has arrived!

It has indeed Jane!
Our weather forecast for the weekend is good, bright clear days but very cold at night. I can live with that, let’s hope they’re right.
Have a great weekend! π

Hi Viv, I so adore visiting your blog yummy photographs uplifting so colorful and clear. Voting too for the sunflower there is a silent beauty which surrounds them. Autumn here dry yet cool many leaves changing softly floating to the ground, heavy winds a few days this week causing trees to bend and break, a bit strange as everyone here feels.
Thank you again for the lovely post. Have a fantastic autumn weekend. Hugs, Dani
Thanks Dani!
Seems everyone loves the sunflower!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend. π

The sunflower photo is stunning! My nasturtiums are all dried up and dead now!!! x
Hi Simone,
I have taken some sunflower photos, I fear I may bore you all with some more this week, I adore them!
That is my last little nasturtium still hanging on!
Have a lovely Sunday. π

Love the sunflower.
The good thing about Autumn is it then runs into Winter and then you can enjoy Spring and Summer all the more. Oh, OK, I’m an Autumn/Winter girl so I shouldn’t comment but what I like the most is having distinct Seasons, I like the change, couldn’t do one weather all the time I’d get bored.
Bethx
Thanks Beth!
That’s good logic, just a shame we can’t skip the winter bit! I’ve tried but I really can’t find anything about winter I like.
I suppose distinct seasons are a good thing to have but I must say that I think I could live with year round sunshine! π

Hi Vivienne
It’s nice to see some blooms still holding on.
I grew ballerina tulips last year, very cute.
Wheres our sun gone?
Clare
Hi Clare.
Just as I type this the sun is trying to come out, so hopefully I’ll be able to get into the garden this afternoon. Fingers crossed! π

Hi Vivienne
I love autumn when there’s blue skies and crisp air. Winter walks and comfort food. Reality here is endless rain, oil run out so no heat (waiting on delivery man) and I’ve burnt the last of the logs. I’m off wood hunting in a bit. Now you look as if you have sun and plenty of colour there, just what I need to lift this gloomy day.
X
Hi Lisa!
We did have a lovely weekend although it was cool. Sun is just coming out now after a grey start. I’m hoping for a little garden time this afternoon as I have a few things to do out there.
Vivienne x
Love these pictures, makes me forget itΒ΄s getting colder outside! π
Thanks Tina! π
Hope you had a great holiday!
