Well here I am back again after a wonderful trip to beautiful Barcelona. It was simply amazing and we enjoyed it so much. The weather was brilliant with temperatures over 30 degrees C. every day, in fact it was still in the mid twenties at bedtime!!
This post is going to be mostly just photos to show the beauty of Barcelona!
Firstly the old ………..
The new ………
(yes, that’s us !!)
The 1992 Olympic Stadium ……….
The markets ……….
The plants and flowers ……….
The colourful and the quirky ………..
The yarn shops 😉 ……….
La Barcelana
The beaches ……….
The Magic Fountain ……….
If you have got this far, thank you for sticking with me! Barcelona is a truely fantastic place. Any of you who are familar with the city will realise that I have left out what are probably the two most amazing attractions of a visit to Barcelona, the Sagrada Familia and Parc Guell. These two places are so wonderful that I have decided that they deserve their own post which I will bring to you later in the week.
Before I go, can I just thank you all for your lovely anniversary wishes for my husband and myself, we had a great time and feel we really celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary.
During the time I was away I had a little giveaway running and thanks to the random number generator the winner of the Michaelmas Daisy Corsage and notecards is ……….
comment number 31 who is Julie from Little Cotton Rabbits, well done!
Thank you everyone who left a comment and I’m sure there will be another giveaway soon.
Have a great week everyone! 🙂

Ooh lovely, I’ve always wanted to go to Barcelona so thank you for keeping me going till I get there myself some day. Beautiful architecture, particularly the old part but even the new has some interesting buildings. Welcome home x
Welcome back Vivienne! My greeting is warmer still as I am happy you had such a marvellous time in what certainly seems to be a wonderful city. I am also glad you got your dose of vitamin D via the sun …. and that you managed to fit in a visit to a yarn shop 😉
Vivienne, what is it with all the little connections between us? Just this weekend I was listening to some of my old favorite tunes. One of them (which I played like 5 times in a row … good memories) was “La Sagrada Familia” by The Alan Parsons Project (mid 80’s). And then BAM! There it is, Antonio Gaudi’s work right on your blog! Freaky … in a good way. 🙂
WOW How wonderful!! It looks like it was an amazing time. Love all that pottery in the marketplace. Can’t wait to see more.
Hi Vivienne, Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos. I’m ready to pack my bags and go visit. (I’m sure my husband would watch some football while we are in Barcelona!!)
I like the old and the new buildings. A great mixture…..
Congratulations Julie. Thank you again and I’m looking forward to more posts.

Hola. Has hecho unas fotos preciosas de mi ciudad y me alegro mucho de que el buen tiempo te acompañara en tu viaje. La tienda de lanas se ve muy bien en las fotos, no me la puedo perder, la debo una visita.
Un saludo.
Susana.
Hi Vivienne,
I’m back and I am so glad to see you celebrated your Pearl Wedding in great style with some fab weather. Barcelona is such a stunning city..the best of everything, town, hills, seaside, history, it has the lot. I loved looking through your photos and will look forward to your other posts as the Sagrada Familia and Parc Guell were favourites of ours too.
Congrats to the lucky giveaway winner, “speak” soon,

Superb photos.Barcelona is one of my favourite places.
I have never had any interest in Barcelona. I am an Ireland, Wales, Paris girl (really a Disneyland girl). But then, I never in my wildest dreams expected to see anywhere the kinds of things you have shown us in this blog. Oh, my word. The weird and profoundly striking oddness of this architecture. Just looking at the pictures, my jaw has dropped to my chest, and I can feel what it might be like to walk in these places, trying to understand what I’m seeing. It’s such a juxtaposition of expected forms with totally unexpected details and contours. What an experience you must have had.
