Black Cherry Bag

by greenrabbitdesigns

This is my new Black Cherry Bag, black as in the colour of the bag not the cherries, hanging rather appropriately in my bursting into life cherry tree!

It has been knit in a charcoal grey (so not quite black) wool/alpaca mix yarn.

I have pinned on my little cherry brooch which I first showed you here. I did go on to make a Strawberry Bag and a Raspberry Bag but I’m only now getting round to finishing the Cherry Bag almost 7 months later (whoops)!!!

I have an unusual reason for my choice of fabric for the bag lining, it’s because it reminds me of the Cherry Lip sweets I used to eat as a child. As a vegetarian I don’t eat them now but I do think the little print looks like them, a bit of a loose link to cherries though!

So my cherry tree has almost come full circle since I first started the making of this bag, great to see it coming to life again.

Today is officially the first day of spring, of course the ‘Green Rabbit Calendar’ has been in spring for a wee while now, it’s good though that everyone else has caught up! 😉

Happy Tuesday! 🙂

The cherry blossom just finishes the bag off beautifully. Oh yes I remember those perfumey tasting cherry lips too, the things we used to munch through as kids!
I still haven’t found those veggie pig sweets in M&S yet but I got some Tesco jelly beans today which are veggie.

Lovely cherry-bag but those buds just left me speechless! That’s proper spring!

What a perfect bag for the 1st day of Spring Vivienne. It is so lovely to see the buds bursting open and the days getting longer. I love your fabric inside too…what a great series of fruit bags you have made. Happy Spring “proper”, we have all caught up now!

Love the little bag, the cherry brooch…and the cherry lips print lining!! Yes, I remember them too…they always looked nicer than they tasted to me! And it’s officially spring now, isn’t it…lots of flowers and buds to enjoy to the full now!
Have a happy sunny week.

Vivienne, that is one gorgeous bag and the lining is a perfect match – I do like the story behind your choosing it. By the way if you have a longing for cherry sweeties that are vegetarian then I can recommend Goody Good Stuff Cheery Cherries
they are rather yummy x

That’s lovely!

I must say, I do like cherry gummy sweets, I try to sneak a few into the boys bag when they are occasionally treated to some sweets at the cinema (you need to take out an extra mortgage to buy pick & mix at the cinema these days!!). Our cherry blossom is out at the moment, I do love the first blossoms.

Great minds think alike!! I’ve been knitting cherry inspired projects too….just posted my WIP on my blog….see what you think!!

Your bag is absolutely beautiful by the way, and the red cherry looks so stunning against the charcoal grey background.
