bulbs and a bunny

by greenrabbitdesigns

These are little muscari bulbs, the poor little things were being sold off in Tesco last week at £1.50, that was for the bulbs, planter and compost, I just had to bring them home with me. They have only been planted a week today and just look how much they have grown in that time!

In fact this is the photo I took of them yesterday morning, you can see just how much they have come on in 24 hours. What a little pot of pre-spring delight for only £1.50, wish I had bought more now!!

Keeping in pre-spring mode I am preparing for the next event in our celebration calendar by making my Valentine bunnies. This is the first of, hopefully, eight Valentine girls, her name is Rosalie. Rosalie’s cardigan is knitted in Rowan Fine Tweed purchased from the wonderful Textile Studio. When the Valentine girls are finished I will list them all in one batch in my Etsy shop (there is 30% off brooches in there at the moment).

Hope you are all safe and sound in this strange weather we have been having, floods in the UK, polar vortexes in the US, it really is all change with the climate.

Thankfully the weather is not too bad here today, breezy but dry with even a little glimpse of the sun every now and again. Our forecast is quite promising for the rest of the week too, fingers crossed they have got it right.

Whatever the weather and whatever you’re doing have a good Tuesday, thanks for dropping by! 🙂

Well done with the rescue of those little bulbs – they’ll be flowering in no time. Aren’t they in a pretty little pot too :0)
Weather’s still crappy here – I’ve spent it indoors trying to type a ‘return to work’ letter – it’s not going well. I don’t think my heart’s in it.

Hi V, Love your bulbs starting, I have some peeking through too. Love Rosalie and her special sweater and skirt! Weather here is frigid negative numbers. Lots of ice too.
Hope your weather is better this week, keep on making bunnies!! They are just stunning.

There’s nothing like bulbs to cheer up the winter is there Vivienne, it’s such fun to watch them peep through. I am LOVING this latest bunny girl she is gorgeous such a beautiful rich red, a real stunner. Enjoy the rest of the day, I must get off this computer and get some of my cards made ;0) xx

Hello dear Vivienne,

Those little greens give us so much hope – that’s the pre-spring spirit at its best (it’s best I do not mention here the weather they’ve “promised” us for the following weekend and onward, -25C was mentioned)! And Rosalie is the sweetest little girl, I can’t wait to see them all in their glory! And oh my, Valentine’s is just around the corner, really… And I am still struggling with the last C-decorations!

Happy new week!

I now see the ‘paper’ is the fabric for Rosalie’s skirt! She looks very loveable with all those hearts! The muscari bulbs etc were a bargain. I couldn’t find any spring plants in the shops apart from expensive arrangements! The weather is so horrible here and the light so poor that I am unable to take any photos to accompany my post today. Here’s hoping for brighter days ahead for us all. x

Hello Vivienne! The weather is surprisingly mild for this time of year and the sun was out all day yesterday! I’m sure a chilly spell will come along soon. In the meantime my hyacinth bulbs are growing every day and they bring me so much cheer and hope. Your first Valentine’s Day bunny is ADORABLE! Oh, seriously Vivienne, she’s one of my favourites and I cannot wait to see the next seven beauties!

The planter was a real bargain and the plants are sure to thrive under your green fingers 🙂
Rosalie is delightful and, as always, I am somewhat envious of her gorgeous cardi.
Eight Valentine bunnies to look forward to – I can’t wait 🙂
Vivienne, I’ve had to unsubscribe to email alerts as I was missing half the posts which were going here there and everywhere.
I’ll be following in a different, more efficient way from now on.
Happy weekend,
Margaret x

You certainly have green fingers Vivienne, isn’t it nice when something flourishes like that. I’m loving the Valentine bunnies popping up here and on FB, I have some of that tweed wool in a purple shade, it’s beautiful wool isn’t it, I think I want some of that red too but it’s a bit pricey in the shops I can find it in here. Have fun xx
