Calm After The Storm

by greenrabbitdesigns

You wouldn’t think by looking at this sky we had quite a storm last night!
Today has been lovely, it has been a day to put on the fleece and wellies and go outside into the garden and tidy up the mess that the wind and rain made last night.

My cherry tree is almost bare now with only a few leaves hanging on, in fact after last night most of them are all over the grass, as I’ve already said there’s quite a mess!

My poor sunflowers, which I had left to go to seed for the birds were all blown over. This one which was seen here at the end of September is quite sad looking now. 🙁

I just had to cut them all down and take the heads of them, pull out what remained of the petals and lay them out on the grass. Sounds really brutal, doesn’t it?

There’s lots of seeds in there to help the birds out during the winter. They can peck them out just as they need them!

Of course no matter when I’m out in the garden my cat friends all turn up! Ginger however makes it very difficult to walk anywhere! 🙂

You’ll remember a couple of weeks back I planted my sweet pea seeds for next summer. Well there’s sign of new life already which I find very heartening indeed. In fact putting on my coat and wellies and getting outside into the garden is in itself very uplifting, a bit of excercise and fresh air is most definitely good for you! Sometimes it’s hard to motivate yourself to go out as it is cold but once you’re out there is does feel good and you come in again invigorated, I absolutely recommend it!

Before I go I just want share a new purchase of mine. This gorgeous little bunny purse is made by the very talented Beth of The Linen Cat. A green rabbit for the Green Rabbit! Isn’t it gorgeous, I’m thrilled with it. It is perfectly made and the detail is beautiful. If you haven’t visited Beth before, hop over and see all her lovely creations!

Well folks have a lovely week and put your coat and boots on and get out into the garden, it’s good for you!! 🙂

I see you have been having great weather too. We are having monsoon season here in Lancashire! It’s such a shame about your sunflowers but they do look rather lovely together like that.
That green rabbit is fabulously adorable.

I would have got out in the garden had it not been raining non stop!!! Hopefully if the weather is dry tomorrow I will get outside and do some leaf clearing. My hens would have loved those sunflower heads packed with seeds. They completely demolished the pumpkin! Your new green rabbit bag is lovely and so unusual. x

Here today Vivienne has been a dreadful day, heavy rain, cold and it never really got light all day! More is due tomorrow so I will not be doing any tidying up in my garden. Good to see Ginger is as helpful as our Billy is ;0) …Billy had the sense to stay in most of the day and watch the rain from the window. He was still there watching when I come home from work. Keep dry.

I feel quite refreshed and uplifted after your lovely garden post, as if I’d been out there in the fresh air myself! We had the rain and wind here all day and I was indoors, sewing and wearing an extra cardi!
Love the little green rabbit bag – very appropriate!
Have a lovely week.

I think it’s so cute how cats always manage to stay right between your feet as you’re trying to walk. Not sure why they do it, though!

We too had similar weather although this morning we have wet and windy! You are right about getting out in the garden – I often don’t want to but usually enjoy it once I’m out there. Ginger is so lovely – cats are fabulous friends aren’t they and so often want to be right where you are.

Love the rabbit bag – just perfect for you!

Hi – the weather’s bloody awful isn’t it?

It is a shame about your sunflowers, but they’ve given you such joy whilst they were in flower, and now they’ll do some good for all your bird visitors.

You don’t have to sell Beth’s beautiful creations to me – I won one of her cats in a giveaway and I’ve just purchased a Mrs Fox. And, naughty me, I’ve got one of her ballet mice lined up for Violet for Xmas. Perhaps I should go back to work in order to pay for all the crafty creations I keep finding in Blogville :0)

My goodness, we’ve had a dose of the same weather as you by the look of it! Wasn’t it wild??!! Love the pictures of the sunflower heads, such an exquisite pattern…and the bag, needless to say, is beautiful! Thank you for the link too.

Sending love

Oh, Viv, I know how you love summer so it must be hard to let the garden go! But those little green ones appearing bring hope! And the bag, it’s SO YOU! I love my brown one so much 🙂

Happy week, it’s almost snow-storming here now!

Yours,
Mia

Hi Vivienne,

I feel a tad guilty ready this post as we are having a day of sunshine also amongst our most often stormy weather and I know I should be out in the garden (and I still haven’t planted my sweet peas!).

Thanks for showing the purse and adding a link, I’m so very pleased you like it 🙂 Bethx
