Home flowers happy day

DSCN0785

I love this day of the year, the Winter Solstice! Despite the very grey sky here this morning and the very low sun behind it, I know that tomorrow that same sun will be a little higher in the sky. The difference will be so slight we won’t even notice it but it will still happen and that does make me feel good!

The Google homepage has a brilliant little animation today of a scarf being knitted but when you click on the animation it says “First Day of Winter”. Well I’m sorry but I’m having none of that, according to my calendar there are only ten more days of winter left and then it’s pre-spring.

The proof????

These are my daffodil bulbs and …….

…….my primula, all photographed this morning in my garden!

Just look at this photo, these are the buds on my cherry tree which only lost the last of its leaves a few weeks back. Despite the dull, grey sky, this photo makes my heart skip just to see those little signs of life.

So brace yourselves lovely people, you are going to get a lot more of this from me over the weeks ahead! 🙂

However in the meantime ………..

……..I haven’t forgotten all about Christmas! We are in full Christmas mode here, my son is home from Berlin and we are more or less ready to celebrate!

Wishing you all a very happy festive weekend, thanks as always for dropping by especially at this very busy time!

It’s all so hopeful now isn’t it? We have daffodils poking through and catkins on the hazel tree too. Love your photos.

When I realised the date today Vivienne the first thing I thought was…this will make V smile ;0) Yes the days get lighter tomorrow..I’m not sure today it is going to get light here at all, it is so dull and wet but there are signs of spring all around already. Your home looks so festive, such lovely photos and it must be wonderful to have everyone safely back. Enjoy the weekend my dear and keeep dancing xx

Happy Winter Solstice to you Vivienne. From now on the days get longer – we are at the other side of the increasing darkness! There is so much to look forward too! I love your white bunny on the stocking – he looks very springlike! x

We’re celebrating here too – back to summer one day at a time from this point onwards, hooray! I hope you’re keeping well and warm – we’re snuggled by the fire today with fairy lights a-twinkling, the best place to be seeing as it’s so wet and windy outside. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas Vivienne and a very happy and healthy start to the New Year. With love and best wishes, Julie xxx

Hello lovely Vivienne!

It’s lovely to be able to catch up with the few posts I have missed here! I completely share, like many, your enthusiasm about the winter solstice. Every day is a tad longer than the previous one from tomorrow onwards. Yesterday was our wedding anniversary. It was a wonderful day to get married with the hope and cheer of Christmas and spring to follow.

Enjoy these sweet, festive days to come!

Happy Solstice Vivienne, I’m with you, counting those extra few seconds and then minutes of light as we head into Spring. I’m amazed at your daffs and the cherry buds, that is so encouraging. Looks lovely at your place, happy weekend xx

The tree looks lovely and I love the cute snowman wearing a scarf 🙂
Lovely to see those daffodils peeking through. I adore snowdrops and daffodils. Never see them here in Spain so I shall look forward to your pictures.
Happy Christmas!

Your photos are great Vivienne, my flowers wilted with the heat one day last week much cooler now. I am happy for you that your son is home for Christmas. We have had a very busy time with having 9 grand children to buy for and 2 of their birthdays are in December. Thank you for all the time you spend on greenrabbitdesigns I enjoy it so much. Elizabeth xx
