Well it’s not the houseplants that are happy, it’s me that’s happy because they’re blooming (well I hope they’re happy too)! π
I don’t have that many houseplants (7 in total) as I like to do most of my gardening outside. However out of the seven, four of them are in bloom. It’s especially nice to have them at this time of year when things are slow in the garden and apart from my window boxes there is a lack of flowers.
The little rose above bloomed this week and that is the first time in a year there have been any flowers on it, in fact I had given up on it ever blooming again. Very pretty it is too, sitting in my kitchen.
This pair are in bloom at the moment too enjoying the autumn sun streaming through the windows, which thankfully we’re still getting! π
This little geranium is a very special little plant! It was given to me in church on the day my son was christened, as it was Mother’s Day as well, all the mums were given a little flower. It has been sitting on my windowsill happily blooming from time to time for over 25 years, so you can see why it’s so important to me!
Something else that made me happy this week was this little surprise parcel. It came from the lovely Alison from Alisonb2’s Weblog.
Alison held a giveaway a little time ago and although I didn’t win I still got a gift!! It was so lovely of her to do that, so thanks very much Alison! π She sent me this paper yarn, something new to me, so I’m looking forward to having a play with it. Thanks again Alison !!
Now on to my own giveaway! Can I just say a big thank you to all of you who stopped by this week and left such lovely comments, you’ve all been very kind. I have to inform you that all the edible stuff in the last post has all been eaten (I’ve just this minute finished another toffee apple) and the knitted apples are becoming a bag and I’ll let you see it when it’s finished!
I have employed the random number generator and although it would not transfer here the way I wanted it too, so I gave up, it has produced a result!

I have only just recently found Pipany’s blog myself and very lovely it is too, so if you haven’t visited before drop in and see her beautiful creations!
Well folks I’ll leave you with something else that’s making me happy, my lovely dahlias which I purchased today, aren’t they gorgeous!
Have a happy weekend whatever you get up too and I’ll see you next week ! π

Hi Val
I kill houseplants!
I do have two peace lilies though, but only because they let me know when they need watering.
Dahlias are great for this time of year, I have two new pompom ones, now i want more!
Have a great weekend!

Well I have to admit to not giving my houseplants the same attention I give my outside plants but they seem to like it that way!
Have a lovely weekend. π

Lovely flowers and an even lovlier gift from a friend. It DOES make a happy day! Good on Pipany – I went to her blog and she seems just the person who will adore the apple corsage and candle – making it ANOTHER happy day a little down the way. Now I wonder what can be made from a ball of paper – pom-poms? A fun knitted shade or some sort? Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Hi Liz!
Lovely to hear from you and thanks for your lovely (as always) comment!
Have a really great weekend. π

Your houseplants are very pretty. My cats like to snack on any I try to keep.
Goodness Denise, you’d have to be very careful what plants you keep then!
Have a lovely weekend. π

Just catching up on my blog reading, lovely giveaway Vivienne, and I loved all those apple images on your last post, living here in Kent we are surrounded by orchards as well (in fact our house is also surrounded by apple trees but sadly they are so old and overgrown it’s difficult to reach the apples).
I can’t keep house plants, considering I grown so much outside, I kill anything indoors, I think I don’t water them enough π
Enjoy your weekend!
Hi Beth
It’s really funny how many gardeners don’t keep houseplants! I think there is a fine line between too much water and not enough with houseplants!
Thanks for your lovely comment and have a great weekend Beth! π

I specially love the picture of the pink geranium. It’s amazing you’ve been able to keep it so long! I have given up having houseplants, like some of your other readers. I just go for cut flowers or garden flowers now or the odd little plant which can soon be put outside (before I kill it off!)

Oh dear, I’m beginning to think I’m the only one with houseplants!!
I take really good care of my little pink geranium!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend Helen. π

Hi Vivienne,
I’m afraid I’m another gardener who just kills flowering house plants! The few I do have are cacti and succulents as they absolutely thrive on neglect.
Yours are so pretty. That knitting paper looks very interesting….congrats to the winner of your competition too.
Love Jane x
I am really amazed at the number of gardeners who don’t have houseplants!!!
Have a good week Jane! π
