Home beads & buttons January Colour

We have had yet another beautiful day here today, this pre-spring season is shaping up to be very lovely indeed.
When the sun is shining in through the windows, it really makes you notice the prettiness all around you, the clear bright light brings out the natural beauty in everything including my gorgeous orchid. I thought I share some more of my January colour with you.

How about these yummy Percy Pig sweets or should I say Veggie Pigs, as Marks & Spencer now make Percy Pigs which are suitable for vegetarians, made without gelantine. What I don’t understand is why don’t they make all their Percy Pigs without gelantine, I mean who wants real pig in their sweets anyway. No one really wants all the leftover bits of pigs boiled up and put into their sweets, surely!! Sorry if you find this a bit disgusting but I do see it as one of my missions in life to convert everyone to vegetarianism.

You’re probably wondering what on earth these are, well they’re cat toys, homemade cat toys to be precise. I made them to give the kittens a bit of fun and stimulation and I’m happy to say they have been well received. We had bought them something similar before and after examining them I thought I could make my own as they all eventually disappear into the garden. It is very entertaining watching them play with them!

I couldn’t do a colour post without a bit of yarn and this lot was a little bargain at only £1.50 a ball, I know I didn’t really need it but what’s that got to with anything. It’s a cotton/linen mix and will be lovely for some spring/summer corsages.

The yarn wasn’t my only impulse buy, I just had to have these pretty beads for no reason other than the fact that I love green!!

Finally my last little bit of January colour is my current knitting project which is a cushion. I have to do something fun in between my spring cleaning which is still on-going – slowly. I can’t say I’m loving it but I’m getting through it, I even have enlisted other family members to the cause. I can’t say they’re willing helpers but why should I have all the fun! 😉 Anyway they say ‘many hands make light work’, don’t they!!

Thanks as always for ‘dropping in’, hope you all have a lovely week with a bit of sunshine and some colour too. 🙂

Lovely pictures, the orchid is beautiful and I love the Percy pigs photo! I must say that reading the ingredients of a product often puts me off it! Your new yarn and knitting look gorgeous, what great bargain too! Enjoy the rest of your pre spring week, Vivienne.

I am “enjoying” this early year feeling too, it makes you feel so good to have a clear out and get everything clean and tidy after Christmas. Can I ask what that yarn is please? It looks lovely and at £1.50 a ball it was a real bargain, just right for little crochet trims and prettiness!

Lovely PRE-SPRING colors, Vivienne, just beautiful! I wouldn’t mind having some of those piggy-treats while watching the little kittens play with their new toys – sounds like an ideal January day to me, actually!

Wonderful week to you too!

P.S. Those green beads look fantastic!

Gosh you’ve done well to get so much colour into this post, it’s fab!
I must get some of the Percy Pigs, I heard they had brought him out gelatine free but I’ve not indulged yet. It actually makes it all the more frustrating that most of their other sweeties still have the foul stuff in them.
There are so many alternatives to gelatine now that I can’t believe I still have to read ingredient lists on products so thoroughly to avoid the stuff. I just wish marshmallows without G were more readily available as I’ve only seen really expensive ones to buy mail order.
I love the kitty toys, I also love your little rabbit ceramic dish and of course the knitting!
Have a good week x

All the colours are gorgeous! I too am loving this moment of pre-spring, although it’s making me think of Easter somewhat prematurely which will probably translate into too many rabbit/egg shaped crafts 🙂

Thanks for letting us know about the Percy Pigs. I wish we could get g free marshmallows. Why should us veggies miss out on rocky road and marshmallows on top of hot chocolate. Love your blog Vivienne

Ooooohh lovely colours there Vivienne. What a really pretty rabbit trinket tray you have as well. I love the bicone beads…they are always so useful to have, I use small ones in the holes of my large glass lampwork beads.
Happy Tuesday!

My french teacher always used to bring us percy pigs as a treat! Never was a huge fan though, even though I love jelly sweets usually! Funny how they are still making them 🙂 Your knitting is beautifully colourful and just what January needs to brighten up the grey – very drizzly here, no sunshine around at all today! Have a lovely rest of the week, hope you get all the cleaning finished soon. Jenny xx

I’d never have thought to photograph the Percy Pigs, how silly am I! I LOVE your photo of them, and their ears match your beads. Good news about the veggie version of the little porkers:D

Great cheery colour and fab photos! I especially covert your green beads, they do look lovely piled on the little plate together.

That’s got me in the mood to get off the sofa and get on with my house clearing/cleaning and maybe go buy some flowers to brighten our living room.

Hope you’re having a lovely weekend. Bethx
