Home garden & greenhouse June Tree

June Tree

by greenrabbitdesigns

Tree time again, goodness the month’s just fly by don’t they!
Well the sycamore tree is now well into full bloom and again I got a good day to take my photo, every 1st of the month this year has been lovely, it’s just the rest of the month in most cases with the exception of April which has been awful!!
I’m surprised there are any leaves left on the tree at all after the all blustery winds we’ve had this past while, the garden was covered in it’s shiny new leaves.

The tree’s little helicopters are in the process of turning red. I looked up sycamore seeds to see what the helicopters are really called and they are samaras. This a word I’ve never heard off. As children we always called them helicopters, we used to throw them up and watch them flutter back down again, we’d have races with each other to see who would win.

I did a little mosaic to show the tree so far this year and you can see how it has come to life over the past six months.

As always thanks for dropping in and leaving your lovely comments. I hope you have a lovely rest of the week and a wonderful weekend, according to the weather forecast summer arrives this weekend, woohoo!!!! 🙂

We’ve always called them helicopters too but it’s interesting to find out what they are really called.

LOL funny that everyone calls them helicopters and does the same games. The tree is looking lovely!! It seems like spring has sneaked passed us here in Connecticut and went straight into summer.

Hi Vivienne, how lovely your tree now looks. We also called the seeds helicoptors but good to learn the correct name, I learn something new every day! It’s June already, how quickly is the year passing. We are still lacking rain here and yes it’s due to hit 30oc by Saturday!

Speaking of trees, I’m a little sad about the 2 year old Elm in my front yard. It doesn’t seem to have coped well with our winter. Only the very bottom branches are leafing (leaving?). Poor tree!

Wish we had sycamores here.

I’m a helicopter person too! I haven’t seen the red tips before, they almost look quite edible.
Have a nice weekend x

Beautiful tree pictures, Vivienne – and so interesting to see how it has grown over the months, it looks really lush now. Those little helicopters always remind me of chilhood nature tables at school as well as twirling them and making them fly. Now we know what their real name is after all this time!

Wow, what a difference between April and May! I suppose that just shows how good April was for weather. The sun is shining down here today (Devon) and it does make such a difference to everyones mood to have a bit of sunshine!

I’m sitting outside typing this, enjoying a long cool glass of homemade lemonade and yearning for the shade of your lovely tree, pretty mosiac really shows how the tree has changed over the last few months.

I love to see how different the tree looks throughout the seasons. I used to throw the little ‘helicopters’ up into the air – still do come to think of it! Have a lovely weekend Viv. Looking at the weather forecast the weather today where I live is hot and sunny. In truth it is muggy with thick white cloud cover! I hope it improves for the weekend!!! x

Yep, me and my boys also call them helicopters. I do love this project, it’s great to see the mosaic photo especially. (I’m very behind in my blog reading so apologies for the recent lack of comments). Bethx
