October Tree

Indian summer ??? What Indian summer ???
October has started horribly, while the southern UK basks in 30 degrees of sunshine the north west is sodden with a temperature of 14 degrees! πŸ™
My October tree pretty much looks like how I feel, it is so miserable here the flash on my camera came on while photographing outside, that proves how dull and dismal it is.
It has stopped raining at the moment but that is probably because after yesterday’s torrential downpour the clouds are dehydrated! We are promised some more heavy rain later though.

Quite a few leaves have fallen off the tree but they’re not dry and crunchy with that ‘come and walk through me’ look, sadly they’re not at all inviting!

There are some pretty colours though but I have to admit this post is not the one I had hoped for this month.

However falling leaves do provide endless entertainment for a certain three little individuals! That picnic table though was a rather slippery affair this morning and there were a few kittens surfing off the end of it at times!! πŸ™‚

Not completely colourless though, some pretty roses still blooming albeit dripping wet.

The sweet pea still trying to do it’s thing.

And perhaps a more autumnal photo. So many berries on this little hedge, they say it’s the sign of a hard winter – I can hardly wait!!!

So there you are my autumn garden and you wonder why I’m so reluctant to leave the summer behind!

Just before I go and to brighten this post (and myself) up , I thought I would share some of my new acquisitions with you.

I treated myself to this brilliant mushroom button made by the talented Jenny Arnott, check out Jenny’s shop as she is having a sale at the moment!

I was very lucky to receive this gorgeous bag from my lovely friend Mia to keep my crochet hooks in. Isn’t it great, thanks Mia I love it, you should check out all the other pretty makes in Mia’s shop.

I also received this pretty bag charm from another of my dear bloggy friends, Jane, it has a gardening theme, thank you Jane for such a lovely gift.

In fact I loved Jane’s bag charm so much I called into her shop and bought two more, a sewing one for my daughter and a knitting one for myself! Go have a look, she has more for sale and they are great!

Finally before I leave you can I just say I am having problems leaving comments on Blogspot blogs with the imbedded comment box, I can comment on the ones with the pop-up comment box. I’m not really sure why but if I normally say ‘hello’ to you and you’ve noticed me missing it’s because of this, sorry! I’m not sure at who’s end the problem is or how to fix it.

Anyhow as I reach the end of this post (thank you staying with me and putting up with my moaning) the rain has started again, so if you’re in the UK and enjoying your Indian summer I just want to let you know I’m not at all jealous, I love the rain! πŸ˜‰

Have a great weekend, wherever you are in the world! πŸ™‚

Hi Vivienne,

Sorry to hear the weather’s still miserable with you πŸ™ makes it even worse to know it is lovely elsewhere doesn’t it? (bit like going on holiday abroad the weather being better back home!) Hope it brightens up quite soon… love the thought of those kitties surfing on your table, hehe, how cute! Thanks also for the mention, much appreciated πŸ™‚ Have a lovely rest of the weekend, do something cosy inside and ignore the horrible weather! Jenny x

Well, you will probably find me as irritating as the weather for telling you this but we are having the most glorious indian summer here in France. 30Β°C again today and it has been full on for a week now. Our neighbours have just gone off for a seaside weekend which is jolly nice for them πŸ™‚

Have a beautiful weekend Vivienne; I shall cross my fingers for you.

Loving the pretties πŸ˜€ You can have some of our heat if I could only transport it to you … it was 28 degrees yesterday in NE Wales and only feels a tad cooler today. Hope the sun shines on you soon πŸ˜€

Hi Viv, Love your charms! I just bought the tea pot charm one and the sewing one too! Can’t wait to get them. One is for a gift and one for me. I can perhaps see more in my future! Hope your weather gets better. Have a nice weekend, xoRobin❀

Oh thats not good, i have been in london today and it was horribly hot, i really don’t do heat very well and especially not in flippin’ October!! hope that makes you feel a little better x
I’d love to see little surfing kittens ;o)

Dear Viv,

I am so sorry the weather is so poor in your end, it’s been a bit better here for a few days now. We just watched the evening news and it said that in Britain it’s been the hottest autumn in long time – sorry it’s not so around yours πŸ™

But you have treated yourself great – Jane’s charms are adorable, I just ordered one yesterday (the knitting queen – that’s me!), and the mushroom is beautiful too! I’m happy you liked my pouch too πŸ™‚

Have a happy weekend even the weather is not that brilliant, those kittens will brighten up any day!

I’m so sorry to hear that you haven’t got the Indian summer where you are, Vivienne! Such a shame! It’s been sooo hot here for the last few days I just can’t believe it…but it won’t last much longer so they say. Loved all your new treats in this post…(I have something similar from Jenny coming my way too!)
The little kittens do look cute, and they are such fun to watch as they play together. Hope you have a happy weekend despite the weather…will send you some of our roasting heat we have more than enough!

Oh dear, you poor thing. It’s been so hot here we’ve been back to sunscreens and drinking lots of water to quench the thirst. Sorry, I don’t mean to rub it in, honest.
Just think your garden is having a lovely drink so those lovely blooms will stay around a lot longer.
Hope the extra rain doesn’t come your way xx

Hi |Vivienne, is there any chance you could send a little of your rainy weather this way, your rain drenched garden looks very inviting to me at the moment.

Good morning Vivienne…oh you poor thing…I hate to say it but it is another steaming day here and yesterday reached nearly 30oc! Your tree is looking a little sad but the kittens are still having such fun. Good to see you still have some pretty flowers though.
Thanks so much for mentioning my bag charms, you are very kind and I am so glad you are pleased with them.
Sending you some of our sunshine your way my dear friend….

Your garden still looks beautiful despite the weather Vivienne…there is something about a rain soaked garden….it doesn’t seem to bother your gorgeous little kittens either…they are having a great time aren’t they?
Love all your goodies….they are even more special when you know the person who has put all their time, love and energy into making such lovelies! I think I have to have one of Jane’s bag charms….
Hope you have a great day,
Susan x

That’s such a shame that you can’t join in this wonderful Indian summer Vivienne – over in the north east we’ve had pretty spectacular temperatures too. But hey, the rain and cold will reach us all soon enough!
Love all your items in this post – makes up for lack of sun I think.
P xx
ps I’ve been having problems posting on peoples blogger blogs too – not too sure why, but am hoping it will resolve soon. x

Oof! We have had a wet blustery start to the month as well, I am not ready I tell you!

I laughed out loud picturing some slippery cats going off the end of the table.

And what pretty things you have got there, lucky you!

Amanda October 4, 2011 - 11:55 pm

plumcreek22Anne October 5, 2011 - 4:29 pm

I’m “sending” some sunshine and dry weather to you. Hoping it will get there soon. (-:
I am enjoying your tree and flowers. Mia, Jane and Jenny are such talented ladies!!

Well, I’d rather have your rain than the S.N.O.W that is in my forecast. Already snowed in the mountains last night … just a matter of time. Trust me when I say the grass really IS greener where you are! πŸ™‚ haha
