Home colour Rainbow

by greenrabbitdesigns

I’m linking this post with the ‘Making Winter’ series organised by Silverpebble and Thriftyhousehold. This is the last of four months of posts to help ease the pain of winter and make it something to celebrate.

Now as you know I left winter behind a while back as the Green Rabbit calendar has been in pre-spring season for two months now and come Thursday 1st March we will, according to the Green Rabbit calendar, be in spring ( I don’t go by equinoxes)!

However as I have taken part in this project all along, I thought it only correct to join in with the final one and to finally put winter to bed and what better way to do it than with a rainbow!

Rainbows always appear when the sun comes out after the rain and I hope my little rainbow signals the end of cold, wet, grey days and the start of clear, bright, sunshiny days!

I chose yarn in the seven colours of the rainbow.

Made seven little buttons in the same seven colours.

And crocheted seven corsages with seven petals each.

Lets hope this is the start of seven long months of happy bright days!!!

Check here for others taking part in ‘Making Winter’ and here for some lovely images.

Happy Tuesday everyone, spring’s coming!!! 🙂

Oh lovely. What a sweet idea.

I’m one of those odd bods who actually really likes the winter. In fact I’d go as far as to say I love winter. I love the fires, the candles, the lamps, the cosy cosy of it all. I feel sad to leave it but at least Spring will cheer me.

I have a special reason for loving rainbows. A some time ago when I was 23 I was secretly in love with a boy who wasn’t mine to love. I never told him. I never told anyone. I just adored him and was happy enough being his friend. At least I had a part of him.

One day on his way to work in the pouring rain, his car aquaplaned and he was killed instantly.

Afterwards I drove to the crash site to lay some flowers, light a candle and weep quietly. It was again pouring with rain and I though to my self “This is what my love would have seen in his last moments. This road. This wet road.” I was already crying and I whispered a plea to God, to Mother Nature, to whoever was listening. “Please give me a sign that he is somewhere now having fun”

As I rounded the last bend, the bend that sent his car spinning, the sun suddenly streamed through the rain and the most astonishing rainbow appeared. It was a huge complete rainbow. It had a second faint one above and a third very pale one below. I’ve never seen a rainbow like it before or since.

Now when I see a rainbow I say “Hello Darren, good to see you” Even my husband and my boys say “Watcha Darr”

So pretty. And what a gorgeous image of the buttons on the colourful plate, love it.

It certainly felt like spring today here, and the bird song this morning was glorious, methinks there will be a lot of nesting happening very soon!

Hi Vivienne, you’ve put some coloured light into our lives today with this gorgeous selection of makes. You have such a way with colour combinations and seven is a lucky number so roll on 7 months of lovely long bright days.
I love rainbows, magical things, I was hoping when I find my dream house to call it Rainbows End and I’ve already made a ceramic house sign for it!
Have a good week, x
