Home garden & greenhouse Tomato Seeds

Tomato Seeds

by greenrabbitdesigns

I planted my tomato seeds today, always a very satisfying thing to do! I feel kind of content now knowing that they are in their compost beds beginning the growing process. It’s always a job on my mind at this time of year but one that’s sometimes hard to get motivated to do if the weather is poor. Happily though the sun has been shining brightly and the greenhouse is very cosy, just the ticket for germinating seeds. I planted Moneymaker and Gardeners Delight, my two favourites, I did look at other varieties when I was buying my seeds but in the end opted for what I know works well for me. So I’m now looking forward to freshly picked warm tomatoes from the greenhouse in the summer.

I seem to be drawn to all things red today as I have been working on a little red bunny cardigan. The whole bunny is a bright primary colour inspired little bun. I’ll hopefully have her ready to share with you soon. It’s been a bit hard to settle myself to do anything this week with all the kitchen work going on, however I think I can see the light at the end of a very dusty tunnel!!

While on the subject of all things red, I would like to draw your attention to this little project, the Red Nose Day Dolls.
I’m sure many of you have heard all about it already but if not it’s an amazing project involving many clever craftspeople. A set of four dolls have been made and along with their many wonderful accessories they are going to be auctioned for Comic Relief between the 7th and 17th March on Ebay, all money raised will go towards Red Nose Day 2013. If you click on the photo above it will take you to the Red Nose Day Dolls Facebook page where you can read all about the project.

Happy Tuesday, thanks for dropping by! 🙂

My Dad always grows Gardener’s Delight Vivienne, I think they have the very sweetest best flavour. I don’t have a greenhouse so my Dad starts out seeds off and then gives Milly and I our little seedlings in late April. I can’t wait! The red nose dolls look fab, there is so much talent out there. I sometimes think it’s a shame that rather than putting them up for auction that people can’t buy sort of raffle tickets as obviously they will just go to the highest bidder ..but at least that makes lots of money for a great cause. I would love to own one but I am sure I will be outbid! Keep warm, Jane x

As I sit here I can see our tomato seedlings sunning themselves on the window sill! Just think of all those lovely tomato salads in the summer. Afraid we don’t have your restraint – eight varieties! We give away lots of them though, so only two of each sort stay with us.
Happy sunny days!

It is so cold and grey here that our greenhouse is still far too cold to sow tomatoes – very depressing. I love that little red cardi – I quite fancy one myself!

How organised you are to have sown your tomato seeds Vivienne! My green house is too messy and too cold yet, but I ought to sow some soon, maybe indoors on the windowsill.
How exciting having a new kitchen! It will be worth the inconvenience you’re having, and I do hope we’ll be treated to a few peeks soon!
Have a great weekend , nearly there!

There’s nothing better than a freshly picked tomato or strawberry.
Love that dear little red cardi and the button fabric that I assume will turn into a cute little dress 🙂

Such lovely shades of red here! You are already busy thinking of your garden! We’ve been enjoying the last bit of strawberry jam from last summer and my son said, oh great, my back is going to be hurting soon when we start picking them again! But I think he actually meant it in a kind of good way 🙂 Have a great weekend Vivienne!
