We took in a bit of culture on Saturday when we visited the Andy Warhol exhibition in the MAC (Metropolitan Art Centre) in Belfast.
We have been meaning to go for weeks and something always got in the way but with only a week left of the exhibition, this past weekend we made a point of seeing it.
It wasn’t a huge exhibition but very interesting all the same. Andy Warhol is one of those artists that I think you either love or loathe. I have to say I love him. His images always take me back to my son’s and daughter’s GCSE and ‘A’ Level art days when he was always used as a point of reference. My son in particular was a fan. Those Campbell soup tins were always in the sketch books and if there is one thing I found disappointing about the exhibition is that there wasn’t a soup tin in sight!
Worth seeing??? Absolutely!

I wouldn’t say that I like (or understand) all of Andy Warhola’s work, but I enjoy looking at most of it. I remember going to an Andy Warhol exhibition at the Tate Modern quite some years ago. There was a room full of floating ‘artwork’, and lots of Campbell soup tin pictures to admire. I love the iconic Marilyn image. Hope you enjoyed yourselves.

I can’t say I’m a Warhol fan, but his work, and the reception it gets, fascinated me.
That looks like a fab exhibition ….. and a lovely day out!

Oh yes! That exhibit would be on my have to see list too. Especially love the quote ” I think everybody should like everybody”
Wonderful exhibit, Thanks for sharing some photos, Vivienne.I’m glad the museum allowed you to take photos. I was in an art museum this past weekend and” no photography allowed”. )-:

You culture vulture V! I think he’s fab too and I saw some of the exhibition at the gallery in Hull last year although it must have been a bit different because I’m sure i remember a few soup cans, I remember the hamburger posters for some reason which is odd being a veggie! What a groover Andy was. Have a good week x
“Art is what you can get away with”… now that’s an interesting thought for discussion! Although I do quite like his work!
Good morning Vivienne and I hope this glorious weather has reached you, we had 24c on my patio after work yesterday…woop woop and the sun is shining again this morning. Warhol is such an icon isn’t he, I would not say he is my favourite artist but he certainly painted some memorable work. The first thing I thought of when I saw your blog title was…..Campbell’s soup tins! Happy Wednesday,

How much did you love the cow wallpaper?
Looks like a great exhibition…….though a shame they didn’t include the soup tins!! When I was an art student we all had a try at drawing soup tins…and other packaging too, no doubt due to Andy Warhol’s influence ….Love the quotes 🙂
Have a happy evening!
